Guinea Pigs
Why You Should Adopt Guinea Pigs
Guinea Pigs make gentle and lovable pets that will bring joy to your home. They
- are social beings – guinea pigs love attention
- bond with their humans guardians
- have adorable vocalizations
- love to explore new habitats
Before Adopting Guinea Pigs
- Like any pet, guinea pigs will be totally dependent on you for everything they need to be happy and healthy
- It’s crucial to talk about adoption as a family and discuss the shared responsibility for their care over their lifetime (5 to 8 years)
- Guinea pigs do better in pairs. We recommend adopting bonded pairs
- Over time, children may lose interest in these animals or leave home. If this happens, ask yourself: Are you, as a parent, willing to continue to care for your guinea pigs? If not, you should probably reconsider your decision to adopt guinea pigs
